Clindamycin is an antibiotic that can be used for a variety of infections, including:Â

Contraindications
Clindamycin shouldn’t be taken if your child has had a previous anaphylactic reaction (hives or swelling of the tongue) to clindamycin.Â
Tips & Tricks to administer amoxicillin
If your child is having difficulty taking clindamycin (liquid or tablets), it can be mixed in some foods or beverages. Please keep in mind that if a medication is mixed with food or drink, it should be taken immediately. The mixture should not be saved or consumed later.
Clindamycin can be mixed with any food or beverage based on the child’s preference, but please note that clindamycin has an especially bitter taste that makes it difficult to mask. It might take a few combinations of food or drinks to find out which your child will accept.Â
How to store clindamycin
Clindamycin tablets should be stored at room temperature.
Clindamycin liquid should be stored at room temperature. Do NOT refrigerate the oral solution as it will thicken.Â
Breast feeding considerationsÂ
Clindamycin can be present in breast milk if being taken by the mother.Â
Although clindamycin is present in breast milk at reportedly low levels, you should have a discussion with your provider about the risks and benefits of taking clindamycin while breastfeeding.Â
In some cases, the nursing infant can experience GI upset, diarrhea, and bloody stools.Â
